Is there any difference between a gt and cobra midpipe for years 96-98?

Yes.....maybe no....maybe yes.

IIRC the hanger around the crossover point will be different between the 2 versions....GT and cobra. Other wise both will bolt on and physically work fine on either platform because both are exactly the same dimensions.

The gt transmission tranny mount and the cobra tranny mount are not exactly at the same location. These mounts also hold the exhaust midpipe and can easily modified if you wanted to use either or in whatever platform.

I seem to remember something about trans mounts now that you mention it.

UPR lists their x pipe as fitting all models including gt and cobra. RPM outlets lists its pypes x pipe as fitting the cobra but has the same part number as the GT. However american muscle says that exact model wont fit lol. Probably just spend the extra 10 bucks and buy the UPR. American muscle only sells an H pipe for the cobra

In my opinion, bbk has the best sound. Youtube mustang exhaust sound clips.

It seems much harder to find cross over pipes these days for OR use. Everything has cats.

I would definitely look to the used market. I picked up a Bassani x pipe for less than $100 a couple years ago. They guy upgraded to long tubes.

I don't think BbK make a x mid section
But they do make a nice H mid section
I personally prefer the H section myself
For sound note quality

It's all good lol. I dont drive the car daily so I'll slap this JLT intake I just got on it and lower it this weekend. I couldn't even buy control arms to install when lowering it out of stock too.

I'm gonna take my cats in for recycling in a week or two then use that cash for the x pipe and just wait on it to show up

On an o/r x-pipe with cats eliminated if you don't have a tuner, do you need anti-foulers to prevent a CEL?

I know the pushrod cars don’t but I think you need mil eliminators or something on the mod motors. white95 or lwarrior1016 will know

Yeah mil eliminators are needed. It throws a soft code so it doesn't effect power output just annoying.
