So my friend is telling me that if I add an o/r X pipe to my 2001 bullitt it will make me just as fast as those 2000ish Z28 camaros. I have a hard time believing that adding just a pipe will make me that much faster. What do you guys think? True or false?

False. Just an X pipe will make it louder, and maybe gain 2-5 hp. It's when you add a tune along with the x pipe and your magna flow cat back that you will get the power and sound! My 2000 gt with cai, tb, plenum, tune, o/r h pipe and cat back could hang with a slightly modified z28.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought. Now if I want gears that would increase my acceleration and not bring down my top speed too much, what would be my best bet?

3.73 with a manual transmission. Top speed? I hit 140 in my gt with 3.73's. There really isn't need to ever go that fast lol. But gears get expensive. You're looking around $800.

Well yeah that's what I meant. I don't really feel the need to go 160 mph but 140 sounds nice. :grin: I'm looking at getting thicker tires soon too because the tires I have on there now are a little too skinny for my taste.

While width will have a factor in drag coefficient its the ht of the tire that matters. That way you can figure out the circumference.

MPH = (RPM x CIR) / (gear x final drive x 1056

??? =(rev limiter x circumference in inches)/ (gear x final x 1056)

1056 is a factors drag coefficient
