first off - if this is the wrong forum, please let me know and I'll change it.

I have a 1996 GT. Did a shift kit not long ago along with the JMOD. Runs good, but shifts different than I'm used to. Now it shifts 1-2 @ about 3000-3500 RPMs, and then 2-3 at a lower # (sorry - can't remember exactly what it was). I'd like to change the shift points back to a lower RPM for 1st-2nd shift. I have access to a SCT x3 tuner, but it's my father in law's. He's only used it with one car, but I've read it only pairs with a limited number. I'd kinda feel bad if I limited him, so I don't mind buying my own, if this is possible. I've read about being able to increase the shift point MPH range, but I want to actually lower it for daily driving. Somewhere around 2500 RPMs.

Thank you!

His tuner would have to be married to your car. They can only do one car, unless you put that car back to stock and then get a tune for yours. Your best bet would be to get your own tuner through a company that does custom tunes. They should be able to get you all sorted out.
