I went against the grain and put an e-cam in my 306 with stock E7 heads, stock intake, & full exhaust. I know my heads/intake are holding me back, period, I?m aware. However, I did notice an increase in low-mid range power through 5000-ish (exactly what I was looking for). After about 5000rpm the cam starts to behave like stock. I have GT40 heads sitting on the bench I need to clean up and put on and I am going to install SVO Motorsports (Cobra) intake soon, but as it sits the car runs well. I did have to get a non-dyno tune to take care of annoying driveability issues, but nothing big, primarily poor gas mileage and rich idle. Since then I decided to learn how to tune it myself. Now, I have a QuarterHorse and a wideband and I?m doing the tuning myself. Well, trying at least. Any aftermarket cam will need a tune to run right (not just run and get by..); I don?t care if people have gotten by without a tune and will try and argue against it; clearly they haven?t looked at the programming within the EEC. A9L guys get by easier because the computer doesn?t look at as much as the newer computers. Fordfuelinjection.com has a pdf file on it called ?A9L vs T4M0 Showdown? or something very close to that and the write up does a good job showing why the A9L accepts cam swaps easier than the T4M0, but also shows how the T4M0 has much more potential. EDIT: WTF is up with all of my apostrophes and quotes changing to question marks when I post???
