despite what same people may say, fords gt-40X heads are really good, they out flow AFR165's and are really close the AFR185 and they flow better than the edelbrock heads, and when ported the GT-40X out flow the trickflow and AFR185's, after mine where ported they were flow tested and i forget the numbers but i do know they were better than the AFR185's, not only that, those heads come with 1.90 valves and the GT40X heads come with 1.94 valves, not that big of a different but little is something, when it comes to intakes Edelbrock is already dyno proven better than the aftermarket gt40 intake and the trickflow, if you do what i did and get the regular edelbrock rpm intake and have it ported, it flows more air than the rpmII intake and at a faster rate, faster moving air is better than more air, so when you have an intake that moves more air at a faster rate it is the best performance you can get, have the intake port matched to the heads and have the exhaust ports of the heads matched to what ever headers you go with, 1 5/8" or 1 3/4 ", i would suggest 1 3/4" longtubes, or if you already have 1 5/8" they will work great also, when it comes to a cam, the only thing good about the trickflow cam that comes with that kit is the exhaust lift and duration of that cam, thats it, since you want to freshen up the motor you are going to have the pistons out of it, if i were you i would get the pistons flycut a little bit and get a little bigger cam with a better duration, have a custom grind cam made, it costs about the same maybe a little more as just buying an out of the box one from somewhere or if you want to buy an out of the box one i would go with the fords F303 cam, a lot a people say fords letter cams arent good but the F cam has a .512 lift with a good strong duration, it will be a little loby at idle but it will be just fine and drives great and hell, if you get the pistons flycut you could also use fords X303 cam, it has a higher lift and a little less of a duration, its actually a better street cam than most other higher lift cams, and the best part of it all is that if you can find everything on ebay for a good price or even if you buy the heads, intake, intake elbow, cam, roller rockers, valve covers and a gasket kit brand new, its still a little cheaper than the trickflow kit that costs $2500, and doing it this way your going to have a considerable amount of more power and be just as street friendly, and as for everthing else you should run a 70mm TB, 30# injectors, get a adjustable fuel pressure regulator, about a 190 fuel pump, and of course what you do you'll need a computer tune, it is always good to freshen up the lifters, pushrods and timing chain but you dont have to, the way that i described the heads and intake is exactly what i have, its a great combo, with what i have in my sig is whats done to my car, i just ran a 13.2 in the quarter last tuesday and i have an automatic with a stock cam and stock torque converter and the only thing with my cam is 1.72 rockers and that lift and duration is less than a stock cobra cam
