… and finally to satisfy my Trip Down Memory Lane: What are some of your fondest memories growing up of either cars your folks had; cars your friends had; or cars you had? This will include ALL makes & models, not just American cars & trucks! For example, I remember damn near ALL the cars (cool ones and not so cool!)my parents had as well as “most” of the cars I’ve had (some I’d like to forget!). But, the two that stick out the most are my mom’s ‘65 Mustang: white with a white convertible top and red interior. The classic “Secretary’s Car” as the whimpyest versions were marketed. Was just so cool riding into town, top down, eating an ice cream cone or an icey cold A&W root beer right from the tap on a hot Palm Springs day. Big ol’ grin across my face; life was gooood! :) The other, my best & favorite car memory was my Dad’s ‘67 El Camino, that ugly-ass green with a 307. My big brother up front with Dad, my middle brother and I in the back, laying down (or gettin’ thrown around) doing 90mph on the backroads and outskirts of Palm Springs. We’d also drive 2 1/2 hours each way up to L.A. (Inglewood) to watch Kings hockey games. No tickets for riding in the back, None of that shit. Just get in, hold on, shut up and enjoy the ride!! Yeah, great memories ++
