Okay... figured out another way to turn that pump into a free spinning pulley. The thought behind this method is that the fins inside the pump create friction, meaning it takes more effort for your engine to spin the pulley. Remove the fins and there is no friction. 1. Remove your serpentine. 2. Remove the three bolts from the front of the smog pump pulley and remove the pulley. 3. Loosen the hose clamp at the back of the pump and remove the hose. 4. Remove the two bolts holding in the pump and pull it out. (You'll need to wiggle it.) 5. Turn the pump over. There should be several bolts holding the back of the pump on. Remove the bolts. You do NOT need to remove the screw in the center. 6. This is the fun part. Using a mallet and chisel (or flat-head screwdriver) pry open the back of the pump. This WILL take alot of force and probably some time and patience if it was anything like mine. Keep at it, and you'll crack it open. I promise. 7. Once the back is removed, look inside the pump. There will be a few plastic fins and some metal thing-a-ma-jigs holding them in. Put that mallet and chisel to use again and knock all of that out of there. I used needle-nose pliers to break the fins into smaller pieces for easier removal. 8. Once the internals of the pump are removed, replace the back and re-install the pump and pulley. Now, because there's no pump, you can crimp off the tube that would go to it from your exhaust and then use a hose clamp to clamp off the hose in your engine bay. I did this mod three days ago and my check engine light has not come on. You can feel a power increase for sure. I DID install a new O/R H-pipe at the same time though, so I'm not sure how much of that is actually attributed to the smog delete. I know that it got rid of the squeaky noise that my smog pump had started making though. :hammer: I didn't get any pictures during the removal or anything, but I'll take some pictures of the crimped hoses and reinstalled pump later. If anyone's interested in doing this mod, message me if you have any problems or want a more detailed outline. :]
