Look at the way the belt runs over the alternator now and then imagine the way it would run without the smog... It adds pressure in a place that it wasn't made to. I've seen it go wrong enough times to know that it does. And none of the three people were running tight belts. And if you take your smog out and try to turn that pulley with the fins in place, you'll realize how much of a gain there is. Without the fins it's a free-spinning pulley.</blockquote>
