I had the same issue.Here is the problem.You have a OBD 1 PCM that is used for an AODE which is virtually the same as a 4R70W. The problem is the 4R70W automatically comes with the Ford Racing Wide Ratio Gear Set. Ford did that because the 4.6L had no balls on the low end so they wanted to give it the extra push to get it going.So your PCM is making a few attempts to lock-up but is not recognizing the gears so after it tries a few times, the PCM finally says fvck it I just won't lock up.Now, the Baumannator TCS can fix this. Some tuners can also fix it through a Dyno Tune with a Diablosport/SCT software.I got my car tuned but didn't care about the lockup. It is a difference of maybe 200-300 RPM.</blockquote>
