The stock one is very weak and will twist. You will also need to invest in a decent torque converter if you want any type of power over 300 RWHP. I can get you a great price on a PA Stub Shaft which is designed specifically for high performance. If you don't think you need it, you can spend a lot less on a hardened stub shaft from Ford. The hardened stub shaft ONLY came on 1998 and newer 4R70W trannies. The hardened piece from Ford is $25.00There are tons of upgrades you can do that are not necessary but are good for safety.
