There's plenty of risk in doing this however, and I've been burned a few times. Most recently I bought an autometer dash/clock pod for an sn95 off a member on corral, only to receive it and get absolutely no mounting hardware with it. I shot the seller a message back and he said he bought it used and never used it himself and didn't have the hardware. I was mad, he never stated in the for sale thread that it didn't come with any of the mounting hardware, but at the same time he didn't say that it did and there wasn't any in the pics he posted of it. I thought maybe there was a chance if I emailed Autometer that I could get them to sell me just the mounting hardware. I had a similar situation a few years ago when I bought a used CDC lightbar and needed the mounting hardware. I contacted them about just purchasing the hardware and they were more than happy to sell it to me. I was hoping Autometer would do the same. So I went to their website, found some contact info and shot them an email explaining the situation, that I had bought it used and was interested in purchasing the mounting stuff and hoped they could help. I was surprised to get an email back within the hour saying they'd be happy to help, and if I provided my address they would send it right out free of charge! Needless to say I was impressed with their customer support for an item I didn't purchase new from them. Actions like this are the reason all the gauges and pods in my car are Autometer and will continue to be. This is a praise thread for Autometer if you haven't noticed. I put rant in the title so you would read it
