Only people who get tickets while still properly using a quality radar detector are idiots. A good radar detector is a tool that needs to be studied. I know where every false alarm in my area is after owning them for 15 years so when I get a signal that is new I know to be cautious. V1's are also excellent for highway use, unless you are all alone and then you will be cherry picked. Where I live there is always traffic so odds are someone ahead of me will be getting hit with radar so my V1 will generally alert me with a mile or more to go. I've tried cheaper radars in the past but they either broke or didn't work with a long enough alert range. You can also send your V1 in for upgrades or in the case of my original model they offered to upgrade to a new one with a trade in of the old unit and about $100 for the new one with upgraded radar. I don't know if any other company does that...most just become obsolete and thrown away.</blockquote>
