The loud pump was probably a warning that is was about to go bad. The easy way to check it is to attach a fuel pressure gage to the schrader valve on the fuel rail and watch the pressure to see if it is fluctuating or dropping-off while reving the car. The pump may be providing adequate fuel to keep the car running at idle, so you may need to rev the engine a bit and hold it there while watching the gauge. Hope this helps!!</p></blockquote><p></p>
