Message: <blockquote data-quote="dsg gts" data-source="post: 723876" data-attributes="member: 12862"><p>the distributor in the v8 thunderbird is the same unit. i can't figure out this car.It started running like this last fall.i thought that it was just a bad vacumn leak. then my head gaskets went. so i pulled the motor.went through the entire motor.i had a 91 motor here with 70000 miles on it out of a lx.i took that block and swapped everything over from the 95 block. all trickflow. h/c/i. put in all new sensors,some twice now,all new hoses. totally cut out the egr.even though the sct chip i have had it turned off. i plugged the back of the heads. then sealed the elbow on the intake permanently. there are no leaks.i even bought one of the plugs to turn off the egr just in case.now evreything having to do with the egr is gone.i finally replaced the distributor from it with a known go running unit.last summer this thing ran so good.it got 34 mpg on the highway,it ran 12,s in the quarter mile. now i can't even get it to run long enough to bring my son to school. it runs great for 5 min.then it goes to shit. still doing the same thing it did last fall. it's as if something turns on and then it dies.i have checked everything, and rechecked everything. even the harmonic balancer.so i guess what else is there that turns on after 5 min?I'm missing something.i can hear the click sometimes while i'm under the hood. my car has bbk long tubes on it with flowmaster 3 chamber mufflers with an x pipe they dump in front of the rear. so trying to locate a "click" under the hood while it is running is almost impossible.up to that point it runs great. then the click. arg very frustrating. anyone ever run across this?</p></blockquote><p></p>
