The vert hot wire comes on with the key & is hot all the time ...that way you do not have to turn on your low beams to get your Fogs to come on! You can run with just your fogs...unless the Canadian Mounties will object, for you Canadian members!  That is what I did for mine ....and I also used it for my Hurst Line Lock for a switched power source.
