and I know I might be barking up the wrong "E-Tree..." I was on craigslist looking at Mustangs earlier, and lately I've been looking at some nice Fox-bodies that have appeared at reasonable prices. They jogged my memory back to my dad's 5.0's. The last of his 5.0's, a black '88 GT, was the car I learned to drive stick on- and one time, before he sold it, he let me take it out by myself. (I was 18 at the time, he had good reason not to trust me, lol) So, drawing from past memory and knowledge: Assuming I was to find a well-kept one... and this is a BIG assumption, we know the fate most of these cars suffer... Good: parts are cheap, car is mechanically simple/mostly easy to work on. Comfortable seats, I liked how the thigh bolster could be extended out (pretty sure this was decontented later). I liked how 5.0 torque hits a bit sooner than 4.6 torque (it's a "feel" thing). I know the engines are mostly durable if well-maintained, the T5's can be a weak link. They're definitely crude in feel vs the later SN95's but that's fine with me, I like that "attitude." Bad: Finding a decent Fox is like finding the Holy Grail. That and for DD purposes, rear drums = fail on anything with power. I'm fully aware of the fact that the newest Fox bodies are nearly 20 years old- age is just a number, right? Lol... Does anyone know of anybody who DD's a Fox? Good or bad idea, should I just wait and get an '04 when my time comes?
