Personally, and as a Father, I would recommend realizing that this time while you are in school is your committment to preparing yourself for a career in whatever field of study you are going for. This is not the time to build a 10 second, dual purpose (street/strip) car. As Paul suggested go ahead and build something fun that gets you into the 13's. You can have fun with this car and have money left over to buy gas for both it and the 460 truck as well as to do other things to have fun. Otherwise you will end up with every dollar and minute being spent on building this incredible car you've got planned. You're going to need to do other things other than school, homework, and work on this car or you will go nuts with the monotany of it all. You also won't have money to do anything else. That doesn't mean you should forget your plans or just simply do "nothing." By the way you worded your question it sounds like you can use some time researching engine performance and getting an understanding of how engines make power and why. You can see what is available on the market and what prices are among the parts that would be right for the way you want to build your engine. By researching engine performance you will have a beeter idea of how to build the engine you want at the reliability you want and what kind of expectations are reasonable. Learn about head porting and what the magic is in them that seperates one porter from a porting guru. You will also have to look into chassis building as you will need to reinforce your car so that you can apply the power to the pavement as well as keep from twisting the body. There are also NHRA and IHRA rules that you need to know with the chassis safety in order to be able to drive the car down the track. We all want to do everything right away. That is natural. Just look at your situation, the committment you've made by choosing to make something of yourself by going to college, and realize the big picture of things. Besides, would some of that monthly money be needed to pay back student loans? Make a fun car, have fun with your friends, do well in college, and after you've got that killer job, a place to live, and all that other "fun" stuff then you can start on that "ultimate" car. :thumb: Steve
