Hello everyone! I have always wanted a "muscle car" to tinker with. So several years ago I started looking. I originally set my mind to a Chevy product, z28 or corvette. Then I researching more and saw how much easier it is to work on the Mustangs and easier to get in and out of! Plus they just look better!

With the power bump in '99, I was looking for a 99 - 21 model because I was going to register it as an antique. I would have gone older for a Cobra. I missed half a dozen cars because I was too slow. Then last week a 2001 GT premium convertible came up with only 82000 miles. I jumped on it. Convertible was not my first choice, but it is sweet! Completely stock and I'm looking forward to getting y'alls experience and knowledge for a few mods!

#1 mod, short throw shifter?

Thanks for all the welcomes! I really love this car. I’m not a purest and I’m sure there are much better cars, but this car is a pleasure for me to drive. I took it in and had the oil and transmission fluid changed and took a look while it was on the rack. It is rust free. Someone has added a cat back aftermarket exhaust. It sounds great. Someone as added sub frame connector bars, bolt on. To me, it handles and corners really well. I have ordered new headlights and a MGW shifter. The stock shifter is my only complaint. The last picture shows the seam on the ragtop. I have a couple of ideas on how to repair, but anything you have to offer is appreciated.

You got a really nice mustang! Great score

And to add, not all of us are purest either, but we all love cars. You found a good group to chat with.

Get over to the build up project thread and create yourself a build thread. Its fun to document the cars evolution and we all get to see it as well.
