So if I'm right, and roots is what makes the most whine, but is not recommended (it seems that a centrifugal is the best all around for longevity, etc., even with the brief period of spooling), I have no problem going elsewhere. Is there a happy medium? A quality SC that makes its presence audibly known, specifically on a 94-98?
Ok, so you've got roots (what the typical person thinks of when you say supercharger), twin scroll, and centrifugal. I understand the basics of each, so here comes the noob question. Which makes that oh-so beautiful "I'm going to eat you alive" whine? My research is inconclusive, and most of my FI experience has been with turbos. I believe the answer is roots, because of the belt. I do know that roots is the best for low end power, which is not a typical problem of Stangs, and generates the most heat, so driving one in AZ during the summer would be inadvisable without better than stock cooling. But I've also read that some Vortech SCs whine (V1), and some Kenne Bell models, but this is because of their internal workings. Just so you understand that I'm not a complete noob, I'm not one to compromise quality/performance because something "sounds" better. In fact, when it comes to sound, optimally, exhaust would be one of the last mods I make, because there's no point in making a lot of noise if you can't back it up. If not, I'm happy to be the stealthy type, just thought I'd ask. :headbang:
