I cant remember if i saw it on this site or a different one but i saw one person that had it mounted in the dome clock. They cut out the front of the clock and have it mounted so the screen is facing out of where the clock used to be. Not sure if that makes sense, will try and fine a pic of it.

I just simply mounted mine underneath the mirror mount on the windshield and hardwired it so it comes on with the key. almost no wire can be seen and i hardly notice it til it goes off.

The best place from what "RADARDETECTOR.COM says is about where the rear view mirror is. I have mine about half way up the windshield as this is a compromise for laser protection.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking when I mounted my there.. I figured that it picks up 360 degrees so if I mount it down low it won't pick up in front or back due to the 3" cowl hood and wipers and stuff and the package tray and stuff in back.. so I just took myself a wild guess and figured that's where the best protection would be haha O0

It's the best place for OVERALL protection. But the problem is if your area uses Laser more than say Ka, K, X etc.. the Radar spread pattern is much greater than pinpoint lightbeam Laser. The Cops aim the laser at a light, license plate or something closer to the lower part of the car. If the R/D is mounted too high it will completely miss the alert. Hence, you get a nice "thank you for doing 85 in a 55" love letter.

haha yeah this is true.. I know mostly the only place that uses laser down here is a small town *sorta* called Auburndale.. they love them so useless work. There's a few roads they do it on. Park at the end next to this building and go stand by the road and shoot up the road towards the red light. cant see them unless you expect them to be there.. once they hit you they walk out in the road and make you pull over. nice huh. pricks if you ask me.. only city around here like that... oh well.. gotta have something to do other than dunkin donuts haha..

If they are illegal in your state ,it dont matter where you put it ,,they will know you got it. Their toys are better than our toys.

They were legal here on and off for years, now they have decided you cant have one that detects a radar signal, its called "perverting the course of justice".
You can have one that uses gps signal to detect "accident blackspots" which is basically where the police have put a Gatso or Truvelo. [fixed camera].
As it only makes the detector react to a grid reference your in [same as satnav], they cant find anyway to ban them, just as well, as we have more than anywhere else in the world it seems. :(

Not sure if this is totally true. Yes, they are illegal in some states like VA. However, the latest Detector technology known as VGA Cloning does an excellent job of masking the detector "leakage" which is how the police determine if a detector is in use.

Go for a K-40 Undetectable system. With the complete kit, you get front and rear radar and front laser. It's expensive, but it's also completely hidden. Only 2 small LED's and a tiny piezzo speaker installed anywhere you want. I have the radar portion installed in mine. The LED's are installed inside the cluster on the gauge face and the speaker is inside the driver's air vent. It works awesome and you can't see it...... :drunk:

I dont have any good pictures, but i have a pic with my mouting spot. :rollinglaugh: Its loves to taut the leos also.

Its perfect for Radar Shots, but if i get on highway than i lower it to the middle of the windshield.

Mounted High= Best for radar/Sucks For Laser Shots

Mounted Middle low but not low= Perfect For Laser Scatter Shots

i mean my mounting spot gives me the longest range (me), but since i have a VERT it exposes it to LEO's every freaking time i drive, but oh well :bunny3:

Check out www.radardetector.net "Radar Roy" is a good source and you can find a whole crap load of information about which detectors are the best ones. I read thier reports and according to them it's a toss up between The Passport X50 and the Beltronics x65.

Yeah, three top ones are Valentine 1 Bel, and Escort. Bel and Escort are essentially the same unit as they are owned by the same company. V-1 is good with its arrows and stuff but I heard unreal things about the latest Escort Passport 9500i with the GPS anti falsing package... Plus it has a speed sensor so it won't drive you  when you are sitting in city traffic.
