Message: <blockquote data-quote="ttocs" data-source="post: 1589824" data-attributes="member: 11896"><p>I helped a neighbor with her daughters car this weekend and I have never been in this situation.  They have a VW tiguan and the battery died so they took it to a local tire/repair place and had the battery replaced.  They said 2 days later the battery was dead again and when they took it back to the place they got it from they charged and tested it and it showed good.  So back in it went and again 2 days later it is dead.  They said they heard they need to have the battery programmed/registered to the car on its software or it kills it.  I had never heard of this before but a quick search online confirms that the battery management system ironically enough will drain the battery if it is not reset in the software, which of course needs to be done at the dealership.  $150 just to do this, on top of the price of the battery.  I bet they knock it down to $125 if ya get the battery from them though.....  I use to think VW was a cool manf but after hearing this I could never even consider one.</p></blockquote><p></p>
