Me too...

but you'd think as one got older one would claim some margin of wisdom. Not me. I did the front end in phases on my '89 Fox (mostly because of budget constraints). So I continued to take apart things I had previously replaced as I went...struts first, then cut springs (mistake!), real Ford springs (magic!), A-arm bushings.

Damn near wore out the strut bolts!

spring install:

lift car
remove lug nuts
take off wheel
remove caliper
remove rotor
jack up the control arm with a floor jack, in turn, compressing the spring
unbolt the tie-rod ends
unbolt the shock from the spindle
unbolt the shock fromt he caster camber plate
remove the shock
lower the control arm SLOWLY (stand away from the wheel-well)
continue lowering the a arm untill the spring is fully uncompressed
remove the spring from the a arm
remove the spring isolators
wipe downt the a arm with a damp cloth and inspect it for damage, perhaps even lube the bushings while you're there.
place on the new spring isolators on the new springs
place the new spring in the a arm
jack up the a arm with a floor jack
bolt down the shock to the caster camber plate
bolt down the shock to the spindle
bolt down the tie rod ends and replace the kotter pins
slide the rotor back on
bolt the caliper back on
place the wheel back on
tighten lug nuts
lower the floor jack
lower the car
take it for a SLOW, SMOOTH test trive around the block.
jack up the car and inspect for any loose bolts or other problems

enjoy!
