04 gt vs 97gt

i raced by buddies 04 gt with the "steeda" package which came with uh steeda stuff i guess. all i knew was he had magnaflow exhaust and some other stuff plus he was an auto to my 5 spd. anyway we went froma 20 and i was in 2nd and killed him first time and second time i went from top of 1st at 20 again and gave him a car length and still got him. he claimed he won cuz i let off around 120. but it was fun cuz i thought i was going to lose cuz ive lost to stock 03s so who knows

race him from a dig then we will see who is faster... thing about a 5 speed is that you can slam the gear down and go from a roll, stock auto's can't decide what gear they want to be in for about 20 seconds :rollinglaugh:

I raced a 5 speed pi with my auto npi and pulled like 5 car length by 70. That was from a dig and he was bone stock though.


A stock auto pi gt would shift into first at 20 and it should beat you. I honestly cant really figure out why he didnt..maybe it shifted into second gear at 20 and thats why it didnt go anywhere.

To the guy saying autos take 20 seconds to decide what gear to go into above, have you ever driven an auto stang?

My auto slams down into whatever gear is best when I hit the gas. Then again I do have a tuner.

Yea, i got an auto stang. And no if you have a tuner that does anything to the trans... its not stock. Mine along with everyone elses that i've driven will throw you into the wrong gear more than one time in a night. For instance, going 40... i slam the gas... i don't go to 2nd where the rpms would be around 4k i go into 3rd at about 3k.... NOT good for a race

Well I got mine tuned...my auto down shifts perfectly now. will down shift at 30 to first with 3.73s and chirp second at 40. second gear will downshift up to about 70 mph.
