11" clutch upgrade or king cobra?

I went to order my king cobra clutch kit and a new clutch cable yesterday and the guy at the motorsport dealer suggested I consider a ram stock replacement and an 11? flywheel saying that the pedal feel is much better and its got more holding power. Any truth to this? Is it worth it? Price wise its about $100 more but if I get mine torn down and the flywheel is screwed up then I?m dead even on price to put it back together.

I trust this guy with his recommendations but I just wanted some input before I make the change, I do not want to do it twice.

I have a king cobra clutch and I like it. Wait to order it untill after you have the clutch out. Have the flywheel checked to see if it needs replacing, or just resurfacing. If it needs replacing the decision is easy.

Its only saves you like $30 bucks by getting one resurfaced I would just replace it when you are in there.

It's 40 to resurface and 11" is 230 for the motorsport billet flywheel. Ugh. I went ahead and picked up a steeda quadrant w adj cable and firewall adjuster and the king cobra kit w the rear main seal and pilot bearing it was all less than 400 so I'll see how it goes.

I just resurfaced mine, didn't see a point in replacing it. Only problem I had with my install was getting the pilot bearing out.

If the rear seal is not leaking, leave it alone. My opinion.

I've got a fairly steady drip and I'm 90% sure that's the source at least I hope it is.

Have at it then.

I would just hate to see you cause a problem when you don't have. When I worked on big trucks there was a special tool for installing the rear engine seal. Make sure you don't need a special tool for the job before installation.

i kept thinking about getting the Ram but I couldn't find anyone local that had used it and didn't get much feed back here before hand.

as for the rear main i'll get it torn down and go from there. I know what you mean about opening a can of worms, I looked everywhere to see where it was coming from but couldn't narrow it down, the pan rails were damp, front of the pan is fairly clean and the farther back I get the wetter it gets. Drips 1 good sized drop every day or so, just enough to drive me nuts.

you're gonna waste your time putting in that adjustable clutch cable, it's just gonna snap on you sooner than later.

I agree...the Steeda adjustable clutch cable is junk like ALL aftermarket ones. They are not made as well as the OEM one!! I had mine (Steeda) for two years & it got hard as a rock to depress then snapped on me! After looking at the MM modified OEM adjustable cable then the Steeda, the Steeda is almost laughable! No wonder it breaks & I guarantee you won't like it pretty soon. Go to the Maximum Motorsports website & read the tech articles on clutch cables.

I should have been a little clearer. I bought the motorsport adj. cable. Hopefully its not a repackaged steeda one, but who knows.
I wasn't aware they were snapping, I had heard "they have issues" but figured it was an adjustment problem.

King cobra clutch is junk, i had it for 2 years and they are stiff.
sometimes i though i was trying to break a brick with my leg.

adjustable cables are junk, imy UPR snapped on me.
went back to the OEM selfadjustable.

also, if i were you id just resuse the stock flywheel just get it resurfaced

get an OEM TOB, OEM cable and a nice centerforce or even spec clutch.
