this winter i am looking to do something big i will have $3000 saved my max is $3500 i can spend.

mods i am looking in to are

- Trick flow heat H/C/I kit and get it tuned for about a total of $3500

- Vortech s-trim for $3000 (http://www.americanmuscle.com/mustang-vortech-supercharger-9495v8.html)

- turbo kit but that is kind of out of my price range.

the only thing i dont get is the vortech what is fuel management unit (FMU). is it even worth in that kit?

vortech will give you the best bang right out of the gate with the least amount of effort. the FMU is a way to fore the fuel system into acting bigger than it really is. vortech makes a pretty comprehensive kit and would be pretty much all you need. i believe it even comes with a tune. if you have 3000 burning a hole in your pocket its not a bad way to go but you could find a used one for less but it might involve more searching and work.

HAHAHAHA no shit man, there's a shop right by my house, that works on nothing but mustangs and the donated a 89 5.0 to a junkyard last week with the paxton blower still on it! If you want I can get you their number. I'm not sure if they will ship out parts though.

i would get a used blower, gt40 or gt40p(depending on if you do headers) heads, cam, springs, and an intake. think about a throttle body and such also. could make a pretty mean street car.

used parts, used parts, used parts. You'll be able to do a blower and some other nice engine work if you go that route.

It's probably an old ball bearing Paxton which are good for about 5lb and make a decent paper weight.

I just did a trickflow HCI last winter but spent a lot more than $3000, but I re-did EVERYTHING up front from the oil pump to the tranny :p. Defiantly changed the way the car acts/drives that's for sure and that lumpy idle is like sex to the ears. I'm a VERY picky person when it comes to my car, so I always buy brand new(USUALLY, unless I trust seller or know it's a low mileage part) just for added security. I'd do the HCI, then a mild blower later if you still want more :).

I'd do the Vortech and a boost friendly cam for now. At least that's the route I'm going with this winter. I also like to buy stuff new unless they're little things from a person I know or trust. Ive wasted a lot of time an extra cash cleaning up stuff hunting down misc. parts or making repairs.

Id go H/C/I.

If your planning on doing more to the car in future years Id grab a 331/347 shortblock now, then do the H/C/I the year after, then a supercharger the year after :D:D:D

gt40 heads(with machine work)$350, springs $150, used intake $225, tune $300, sn95 adapter $75, used s trim $1000, cam $200,gaskets and such $200. total $2500. then there is $500 for throttle body, maf, fuel pump, strut tower brace(if your intake will not let it clear or you dont modify like i did)
if you look you can around you can get cheap prices. i paid 100 for my gt40p heads, 90 for valve job, 35 to check heads, 125 for trick flow valve spring kit. i got an edelbrock performer 5.0 upper and lower manifold for 175. remember local forums and craigslist can be great. i have got alot of stuff off craigslist from people just calling me to see what all i had because they seen an add about mustang parts. i had some heads and exhaust on there and would up trading my stock seats for race seats since someone called me.
