My combo isn't too aggressive and I don't think I need 28", but a couple of my buddys tell me to get 'em. I've raced my car 5 times at the track with 26" and have cut 1.789,1.782,1.72,1.70, and my best of 1.68 60's. I don't want to break anything if I run 28". Is there a hp limit up to where you can run 26"s?

Not so much the a HP limit but with your motor combo being pretty mild, 26's sound about right. What gear are you running? Thats another factor. If your tire is too tall and you don't have ALOT of HP...a 28" tire is going to put you at the bottom of 4th going through the traps. Thats going to HURT your time. A 1.68 isn't bad. It CAN get better on a 26x10.5 tire. Remember also, mickey thompson makes a 27" tire as well. I was going through the traps with the shift light blaring at me in 4th with a 275 50r15 drag radial (equal to a 26 10.5) so I stepped up 27's. It has worked great so far. Read mickey thompson's tech articles. They are a good deal of help with tire selection, pressures, and burnout procedures.

    Thanks again. O0

With the 26s, I'm shifting into 4th gear but I don't get close to having to shift into 5th. I have 4.10s with a stock differential. Since I 'cruise' through traps in 4th, I guess 26s are fine then. I'm really nervous of breaking something back there when I line up. My buddy's slicks are 26x8 so I'm sure that with a 10" wheel, my 60s can improve. I hit the 1.68 with my sportline springs up front and everyone tells me that my car doesn't rise from the front at all. So since I need some weight transfer, I bought some fox 4 cylinder front springs, I just haven't installed them. :slap: So that should get me in the low1.60s.
