What size cam?

BIG.

Seriously? buy a custom cam or just call one of the cam maufacturers or race engine builder and ask them.

go on corral.net, do a search for custom cam, you'll come up with lots of ideas.

Jay Allen and Ed Curtis. are both good custom cam guys.

Jay isnt doing very good right now he is very sick and hasnt worked in a few months.

IIRC Ed did a cam for a guy on corral that had a 408 afr225 and the car made 480ish rwhp N/A.

Are you going to be going to the track every weekend or is this a everyday driver? If you are planning on driving it alot I would go with hydraulic roller, I have never had a solid lift myself but most of the people I've talked to that have say you end up having to re-adjust the valves all the time but they sound really really nasty!

flowtechinduction.com Read up and print out the build sheet. Email Ed with your questions. Make a detailed plan, include everything in it and stick to it. Be absolutely truthful to yourself in what you really want. If you have never driven or worked on something with 500hp, it may not be what you expect. Don't forget all the supporting hardware, fuel system, induction, exhaust, and drivetrain. All will need upgrading, more likely completely replaced. Double or triple whatever you expect to spend. Be patient. If money is no object, you can make a big inch big HP windsor streetable. What's your definition of streetable?

this won't be just a winter build (atleast the engine will be but not the whole car). i plan on doin everything right the first time so i wont have to go through everything a year later inless i break something. it will be streetable thats for sure. when i say streetable i mean i can take it out whenever i want and not worry about anything going wrong. i have also helped a buddy work on his 800hp fox, another buddy work on his 500hp ls1. i know its gonna take a long time not just some overnight thing. and i also know with evey build there are all sorts of troubles that come along with the project.

I have a cam from Ed Curtis (flowtechinduction) and He does great work and will help you out long after he sends you the cam. Ive had the cam installed since 08 and I still e-mail him to this day with advise on his cam and changing my combo and what he suggests. Hes great to work with. I have a low compression 351 and with the combo in my sig I pulls past 6000 RPM's before my power starts to drop off. Im in the process of a head change and Ed was helpful with advise on how his cam would work with the heads I want and the proper valve spring set up

Be sure to get a good intake as well, something such as the Victor 5.8 or TFSR for the 351

Your buddy with the fox will be indispensable during your build. As far as which cam, what do you consider high compression? 11-1, 12-1 or higher? Compression in this range requires, as stated above, a BIG cam, LOPEY, and race gas. A hydraulic roller is limited on how big you can go. I would say you are looking at a good size solid roller.

My buddy in the fox is building a 349stroker that's going ti be putting down more then a 1000hp when it's done. He has been getting on me to start on this motor. I'll prolly run 11 to 1 compression. Don't you have to adjust that valves every so offten on a solid roller cam?

You will be very satisfied with a 408W in your car. Ed Curtis has a lot of experience with AFR products and will grind you a camshaft that will put a smile on your car everytime you stand on the pedal. You will need a stout transmission if you go this route. Look me up when you get ready and I can put you a nice package together.
