4r70w Questions

Ok, so my current stock 4r70w transmission has a lot of miles (150k) and I saw that Summit Racing is selling a brand new transmission for $989 plus shipping of course. I was really thinking about doing this and also picking up a hard intermediate shaft and a shift kit.

My questions are:

1. How much do they usually run/what brand of hard intermediate shaft to you recommend?

2. Shift kits, I was thinking the JMod. Opinions/Suggestions?

3. How much is an average to estimate for install of these two products?

i thought the 4r70w already had the hard shaft. As for the jmod do it yourself. if the valve body is already out of the car it is very simple and would be incredibly hard to fuck up and if you did, the only thing you damage is a lil plate you could get at a pic and pull for cheap.

I don't believe they have a hard intermediate shaft because I have a few friends who have replaced theirs for "more race ready" ones.

I'll have to read up on how to do the JMod.

And my trans has 150k miles on it. I can tell that it isn't strong anymore and seems to slip from time to time. It's just not doing its best these days and needs to be repaired or replaced.

mines not the strongest either but im going to wait to blow it up. have you changed the fluid in it? jmod your current trans and change the fluid.

Yup, done all the necessary maintenance, it's just getting old. Which is why I made the thread for some researching information...
