5.0 in the next mustangs?

it's an inbetween for the 5.4 and the 4.6 , a 5.0 ohc they think it'll have the top end of the 4.6 and the low end of the 5.4 from what i've heard.

pitting the 5.0 up aginst what chevy and dodge is putting in their cars these days is a JOKE :nonono: it needs to be a 6.0 IMHO

The first two years will not see the new motor, but the new motor does not share any parts with the old.

I don't know why that article makes it sound like this 5.0L is coming from down under when all the work is being done in Dearborn now. Don't worry about power, targets are 400 hp/ 400 lbft and from early dyno runs that won't be a problem to meet. :thumb:

It won't be in 2010 but it will be coming.

i have to agree with brian here....even the 5.0 is undersized...the stang is in a class with the camaro and the chargers/challengers ....there engine packages make ford look like a yugo in comparison .... but in all honesty ...the mustang has always been under powered compared to the bowties since 74-up ford needs to get it in there heads we need cubic inches!!!!!!!!!! if nothing at least a option!!! i would have no problem with 2 engine options for the gt the standard 5.0 they want to use and a 6.x or the rumored 7.x ...

There are those inside the four walls at Ford playing with the idea of 5.8L and 6.2L special mustang models, be they BOSS or MACH1's or whatever they would end up being called. Ford could always add direct injection to the coming 5.0 to get more hp without much sweat. I really think the mustang will be in good shape power wise after 2011. Hell, the base V6 probably won't be far from 300hp.
