basically that's it... here's fuel injection methodology 101: In modern injected engines (excepting direct inject) the fuel spray is aimed at the back of the intake valve. The ECU is set up with timing and pulse-width settings to fire the injector against the back of the valve while it's closed. This helps to cool the intake valve and to vaporize the fuel charge. When you add the adapter plates the fuel injector sprays the living hell out of the floor of the intake runner and the fuel doesn't properly mix, meaning you have to dial in more fuel in the tune to compensate and your mileage and emissions go to total hell. There's no good treatment for that issue in the tune. Moving the injector firings later or earlier doesn't help (actually makes other problems much worse, like valve temps) and so you're stuck with 8mpg in the city and 17 highway which is pathetic, not to mention the power robbing nature of adding excessive fuel and the potential ring sealing and lubrication problems from liquid fuel running down the cylinder walls. Simply putting a proper manifold on it with the injectors where they should be restores your mileage (think normal mustang mileage, 17city/25 highway) and you get the ease of bolt-on simplicity, all your stock stuff and bolt-on's still work and you can usually use your stock fuel rails. Do this one thing just because I told you it's the right thing to do and you'll thank me later. Order your HPS intake. I don't make jack if you do or don't, my interest is you doing this right and being happy with what comes out of it.
