ok... I have no experience with painting cars. So heres what I did.

2 quarts of blue automotive paint, a roll of paper, some sand paper and a roll of painters tape. Grand Total, 50 bucks.

I wet sanded it, primed a few spots, masked off what I didn't want painted, painted it. Bingo. Done...

Before and after shots below
Before... lol

As you can tell, it ain't perfect. But its 100x better then before, and I'm very happy. Great learning experience for me. I now have a general idea on how to paint a car. I'll probably paint it a few more times when I have time to kill. Once the new motor goes it, I'll do it one final time and I'll do it right.

I'm a happy camper :)

how long did it take to paint?

2-3 hours. Thats including the wetsanding, taping, painting, etc.

Its not perfect. The rear truck lid looks like shit cause I didn't do any body work. I also have no idea how well it will hold up. I'll find out. But its a 500 dollar car. So I could really care less.

I've gotten several compliments though, and its turning heads. lol. Funny cause I didn't really try to do a good job. I just wanted to get it done as fast as possible.

It's looks pretty good, and for the time and money, it looks awesome.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you you shouldn't have done that for whatever goofy reason, but I can't see spending a buttload of money painting a car you don't care about either. If I don't have a compressor by the time I get that far on my DSM, I'll spray bomb the thing, lol.

Oh... you're correct. I can think up 10 reasons of the top of my head. I did my homework before I did this. But we will find out how true what everyone says is.

The fact is, just because you went to school, or read in a book, the negative effects that can occur from not painting they way taught, doesn't make it true.

What makes it true, id doing it yourself, learning yourself.

Learning is doing.

It was 55 degrees when I did the first coat. I had to run out and get another coat, and when I applied that, it was 45 degrees. Too cold, very little body prep, and no clear coat.

So I will find out for myself. I didn't spend alot of money on it. I really don't care about it. Worst case scenario, I take what I learned from first hand experience, and do it again in the spring.

I'll get some more pics tomorrow.

Today, I scrubbed all the shit out of the vert top, and armor-all'd it nice n shiny. Shined all the plastic shit. Polished the wheels. Tire shine. Shampoo'd the carpets and seat. Stole some new floor mats from work. And put some wax on.

Oh... its nice...

People are offering me money for it. Someone offered 1000 for it, another offered 2000... If someone offers 4000 or more... its gone... I'll buy something new. lol
