I wouldn't do it to a Charger if I had one, lol. But a winter beater, commuter car, I totally would. I was going to spray mine, but this is waay cheaper than that.

If i had enough money to buy a Charger in the first place, i would be paying a pro to do it.

do it right the first time around and you will be set. Sure it looks good an hour after its done. What about a year after? 2 years?

oh, just so you guys know... it is illegal to paint your car outside of a paint booth, or some other kind of contained, ventalated, and filtered area.

So be smart when painting in your driveway.

I'm gonna paint the fox in my driveway using some black single stage urathane paint once the weather gets warm out. But I live on 13acres of land, so ain't nobody gonna be able to see me.

take it as you want. I have a degree in custom paint and autobody collision managment. That is not the right way to paint a car period. By all means if you feel like being cheap and taking short cuts go ahead. I have seen this done for years, this is nothing new to the automotive paint industry, it was crap then its still crap now.

For $100 you can buy a sprayable 1/2 gallon of single stage black. Go buy some scuff pads, tape, papers etc and a $40 Paint gun and you will have yourself a paint job that will stand up to the elements. Shoot there are places around Dallas you walk up with $150 cash and tell em black your car will be painted and done tomorrow.

Sure maybe that guy painted his car two years ago. Does he drive it everyday? Does it stay in the garage? Does it see rain or snow? Chances are no.

A good rule of thumb. "You get what you pay for." Believe me i would rather save up a little more cash and paint my car correctly and cheap than just cheap and dumb.

Thats why you go get an automotive canopy, cut a hole for a fan and tape an a/c filter (the kind for your house) to it. Its not technically illegal. It may be but its like spitting on the side walk in texas. its illegal but no one gives a shit. If it was that illegal aerosal hairsprays would be obsolete.

Well... it really depends on the car and the owner...

For instance. I want my car to be one color, and black. I want it to be shiny. period.

Thats all I really care about. I'm on a budget, I can't be spending 600+ bucks on paint. The faster I make the car, the more difficult it will be to see the imperfections in the paint.

In cases like mine, the 1 stage stuff is perfect.
Now my BAB sn95... ha ha... nope... gonna have a pro do it.

Of course you get what you pay, like I said, I wouldn't do it to a nice car. But when you have a car worth about 1500 bucks, I'm not spending even 150 painting it. I'd just want it to be all one color.

And like I said, the paint used is oil based enamel, the same type of paint used for years on car's, and Tonka trucks :hammer:

I don't doubt that if I walked up to that Charger, I would be able to tell something was wrong with it. But from 5 feet away, it looks damn good, and if I was driving a 92 Cavalier, or 89 Escort, that's all I would want.
