alright i know that the 94 cobra was rated at like 245 hp but didnt it actually put out like 270? so if you figure it put 270 to the flywheel and maybe gains 15 to 20 hp on cold air and exhaust what would you figure it would put to the ground about 250 hp to the wheels maybe? someone help me out on this. how much hp and torque do 94 cobras put to the ground with exhaust and cold air? im guessing 250
I don't know if this is what you're looking for exactly... but, the rule of thumb is generally about a 15% drivetrain loss through a manual tranny and 20% through an automatic. So if you want to guess that it's 270 hp at the crank, plus 15 crank hp for the CAI & Exhaust, then you could expect the following at the rubbers: Manual tranny: (270 hp + 15 hp) * 0.85 rwhp/hp = 242 rwhp Automatic tranny: (270 hp + 15 hp) * 0.80 rwhp/hp = 228 rwhp Maybe somebody can verify these numbers... Hope that helps. :santa_cool:
yes that is how i calculated it. i read the number 84% for the manual tanny but close enough. i was just wondering if anyone had a 94 cobra that they knew the numbers on
a 94 cobra puts down 220-230 rwhp.with a cai and full exhaust i think somewhere between 235-245 :dunno: they were underrated for sure. only one way to find out for sure strap that baby in a dyno
yup, I did the same with my 99 and im going to have dyno sheets for the pre blower number ( that is with my mods now ) and the final numbers after the blower. I was at 270 and 280 STOCK.
well with the drive train loss its right at ( or was back when it was stock ) the 320hp and 317tq factory rating. Just about 3hp under to be EXACT, im interested to see exactly where I'm at now, I'm guessing around 310hp and 300-315 or so on the tq. Wont know until I get back to the dyno right before my blower is installed.
alright how bout the same 94 cobra bored out to 306? what would the hp and torque be roughly? this isnt my car its about ready to be my buddy's and im just seeing if i will be able to beat him after my pi swap
4ci isnt gonna help. the reason people bore their engines is because they have to. if u want power either get a h/c/i (heads, cam , and intake) or get a stroker kit 331ci+ . the HCI or supercharger will help u the best.
this isnt my car. i just wanted to know what kind of power it was making. so a 306 doesnt make any more power than a 302?
not really, if any hp is gained its minimal. Unless you have a 306 with some kind of high comp pistons that give more hp, other than that comparing the same motor with one having 4 cubes more is not going to give any thing too you.
5.014L versus 4.949L is a difference of 0.065L (65mL). Assuming you consider a stock 1995 302 @ 240hp = 48hp/L. Just to give you an idea, a proportional gain would be about 3hp. This is not an accurate way to predict hp, but would give you an IDEA. :santa_cool:
If your looking to make more power in a pushrod I would defiantly stoke over boring it. I had a stroked a4 347 with an HCI setup I made 310 to the ground with all supporting mods and a tune. I have a buddy with a 306 hci setup all supporting mods and a tune and he made 278. I found increase the stroke on 5.0's really wake them up compaired to a 306 bore. There was a right up awhile back wit MM&FF about this and the stroker kit did produce better numbers. 331 kits seem to be gaining alot of popularity over the 347. But I did mine about 6 years ago. Alot has changed since then. Good luck
I made 253hp/294 tq with BBK equal length shorties, BBK o/r X pipe, Mac Pro dumps, ebay CAI, UDPs and 15° timing. I also had an air fuel ratio that was pegged lean at around 15.5:1 I added an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and messed with a couple values with my old Tweecer, and I hit 276rwhp
I heard 94's came with a conserative tune around 240ish HP, and if you tune it with a more aggresive tune, you can get around 270ish?? :dunno:
