Well I finally got my new motor going, Trick Flow top end, rebuilt short block. Took it the tuner and was told that the computer would have to be run in open loop because the computer just wasn't up to the task of being run in closed loop. It did make 285 at the wheels with only about 200 miles on it. Now I have about 3000 on it and was going to get it retuned now that it is broke in, and was wondering if the computer in my car is crap or the tuner was just not wanting to do it. Should i find another tuner?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I would, after my head/cam swap i drove my car around just fine with the computer untouched. Find a tuner that will write a chip for your car's setup, running the computer in open loop can't be good for it.

running open loop is running off FACTORY preset inputs for the computer to determine a/f, how much fuel is needed etc etc. Get it tuned properly, as onyx said, open loop permanently is not a good thing...

your motor was "broken in" in the first 20 minutes it was running... the rings are seated

well im pretty sure if your running a carb you dont even need a tune. Maybe just have the stock comp flashed to turn off the egr but your tuning will all be in the settings on the carb
