I've burped the coolant system several times and the hose is soft until I screw the radiator cap on. After a short drive the upper hose is too tight to squeeze with regular hand pressure. I just fixed a blown head gasket and the upper hose being tight was one of the early symptons along with overheating. so far the car runs cool but that hose keeps getting tight.
