97 cobra vs pro charged 98 gt

i have a fresh rebuild on a mostly stock 97 cobra with a slp lm2 and o/r h pipe ,hurst shifter and 4:10 gears with nitto 555r

buddy of mine has a full bolt on 98 procharged gt on 8psi stock gears

from a dig we both spun in first i hooked up in 2ed and pulled 1.5 cars on him i was waiting on him to close the gap while i ran 3rd and 4th gear out and he never did i had 3 cars on him by the time i hit 130

is this right or should the gt car won .... both can drive good and his car has a good tune.... from rideing in it it feels like his car pulls harder

He prolly sucks at driving . Even a NPI shit box should make more power then ur car but the fact you have 4.10's plays a key factor

Thats a surprise, as stated your 4.10s play a huge roll in you winning the race, he needs to switch to 3.55 or maybe 3.73 to really get all he can out of that car. With stock gears it still probably doesnt have the acceleration that would make that procharger setup as useful as it could be.

A few factors.

8 psi through a NPI motor is absolutely nothing because they are such restrictive turds.

Im pretty sure a 5 speed 98 GT would have came standard with a 2.73 gear ratio....so that is a huge factor, especially with a centrifugal blower.

As far as power, if that NPI is still rocking full NPI HCI, 8 psi isnt gonna make too much power and with 2.73 gears it wont use the power it makes very well either.

Yea..probably would make 180-190~ rwhp stock, with 8 psi I would venture to say the thing was only making 280-290 rwhp but the biggest issue is with a centri blower and that weak pulley the thing really would only be making good power for a short period of time at the top of the rpm range, and he wasnt getting there or using it will with 2.73 gears. lol

Your geared cobra could easily be a faster car.

Probably not, your cobra with o/r pipe could lay down 270-280 rwhp on a dynojet but would probably have a better curve/avg power than the centri NPI

Of course this is all just speculation but id estimate the NPI only makes 10-20 more peak HP over you.

Yep, the way I see it, he may be making a little more power/may have a slight weight advantage but those 4.10 gears are more than making up for that so you win.

If He put 4.10s in his car I think he may pull a few cars on you.
