A/C upgrades for cooler operating temps?

Would love to manage operating temps far better than what’s happening now. Here’s what I presently have: Mishimoto everything (radiator, thermostat, hoses, supports); 1 week ago flushed 3x; 50/50 NAPA coolant premix (green); Water Wetter; stock fan and fan shroud.

Car bolted right up to 220* from 195* the other day when I used the Max A/C. Temp outside was 91*F. Anything jump right out that would help get this under control? I know 220* isn’t the end of the world, but it definitely bothers and gives me serious concern when it does. Not crazy about continuing to drive at that temp

I’m running the 19# radiator cap that came with the radiator and a Mishimoto 190* thermostat. Would changing either or both help ?

How are you reading water temp?

If you're on the OEM setup, I think the high speed fan kicks on at roughly 220-deg F. Perhaps your low speed fan is not working? Low speed comes on at ~208-dg F.

I never was a fan how hot the engine got before the ECU kicked on the fans with the OEM tune.

I have a AutoMeter water temp gauge in the dashboard bezel to read water temps. Also have a custom tune for my 347

I fought this for years. I wired a switch to be able to turn on the high speed fan when I wanted. That should be coming on with max ac though. Also, ended up getting the water pump replaced after the switch wouldn’t bring the temperature down. Now even on a 100 degree day only see about 210 at most.

Any thing that generates heat it will read

Guys, 220*F on a 91* day with full accessory load (A/C running full blast) is fine. As long as the temp cycles back and forth between the 200 - 220 range it means the coolant system is functioning normally. Any OBD reader that can pull the coolant temp real time is probably one of the best troubleshooting tools you can have. Watch the temps during a fan activation cycle: temp should climb to 200, and you ought to hop out of the driver seat while the car is parked and feel for the LSF activation right around 208 as previously mentioned. And if the LSF is not enough then the high speed will kick on a bit later. Of course when the A/C is activated the HSF will engage to keep the condenser cool so that the A/C pump doesn't self-grenade.

About the only thing you could do at this point is get a higher pressure rated cap, this raises the boiling point even higher and increases your safety margin, though some would say it could be overkill for your situation. Of note, the higher the cap rating, the more you need to pay attention to the condition of all coolant hoses. Higher system pressure will accelerate the wearing in of all coolant components in general. If they're silicone hoses or even just rubber hoses that are still newish and in good condition then you don't have anything to worry about for a while.
