Sup, I have my 94 5.0 Motor runs great but has alot of miles on it. Like 150+, SO ive been doing alot of reading an decided i wanna build a 331 stroker motor. But i was wondering if all the blocks are the same. Cuz i work in a junkyard and i could get a block for free like out of a older ford truck or even car. I wanna keep the car running now because i need it and dont have the funds just to buy everything and rebuild. So its gonna be some what of a process of when i have the money and time to buy everything and build up. But any info would be greatly apperciated! Thanks!

All B50 roller blocks are the same. There are non-roller blocks (such as the Mexican block) which have more material in the main webbing area and are moderately stronger. However, the overwhelming majority of performance builds are well within reason for a regular production block and will serve dutifully for a very long time.

If you can get a free block, then why not use a 351 instead?

lol if i had the money i would buy it. But edumspeed has a good point, why not build a 351. Im gonna start looking for one, whats the easiest way to tell a 351 windsor and a 351 cleveland? Its most likely gonna come out of a older F150, or ford van... Hmmm.... possiblities

Needs to be a f4te 351 block if you want a roller motor. You need other parts to swap to a windsor also. But pretty much any late model 302 motor will be roller. You'd be better off picking up an explorer motor if you stick with the 302.

The upper water neck on a Windsor family 351 is mounted into the front of the intake casting like a 5.0, whereas on the 351/400 Cleveland/Modified family blocks, it is mounted horizontally on top of the timing chain cover, to the left. Cleveland is noticably larger, different valve covers, etc. There was never a Cleveland/Modified motor with a roller from factory. Although there is probably a kit out there to modify it to accept rollers.
