Anyway to lower boost/HP without needing a new tune?

Hi guys, just picked up my car (04 GT) from the tuner and it made 440hp on an intercooled vortech 3 SI. More than I expected! I'm still running on the stock bottom end so it's making me a little nervous. Is there anyway I can dial the boost or HP down without needing another tune? Just want to make it relatively safe. Thanks for the help!

Why would you want to?? 440hp should be fine. Even my pushrod 302’s are good for up to 500hp

The rods don’t like to hold up much more than 400 rwhp. If your tune is good, it should be tuned at all boost levels, so you should be able to lower the boost and be ok.

I still have the stock 3.6 vortech pulley (has a 3.33 pulley on it now). I was hoping to switch it out with the stock one to bring the boost down but some places were saying I would need a new tune.

I thought that was the appeal of the 2v over pushrods was that the bottom end could handle so much more?!?

the quick answer is yes if you put the bigger pulley on it will keep boost down a bit. But, you'd want to monitor it.

swapping the pulley out will lower the boost and hp. Should you have it tuned, well for optimum driveability yes it would be recomended anytime you make changes like that
