Hi guys, just picked up my car (04 GT) from the tuner and it made 440hp on an intercooled vortech 3 SI. More than I expected! I'm still running on the stock bottom end so it's making me a little nervous. Is there anyway I can dial the boost or HP down without needing another tune? Just want to make it relatively safe. Thanks for the help!

Why would you want to?? 440hp should be fine. Even my pushrod 302’s are good for up to 500hp

The rods don’t like to hold up much more than 400 rwhp. If your tune is good, it should be tuned at all boost levels, so you should be able to lower the boost and be ok.

no there is no way for you to snap your finger and change the power short of using more/less pedal.

Some of the 4.6 performance manuals I have read stated stock bottom end good for 500 horse
Lower the boost and drive it, monitor AFR and see what it says. If the AFR is ok, then you should be fine.
I thought that was the appeal of the 2v over pushrods was that the bottom end could handle so much more?!?

I know kenne bell told me 520 is about the max they would push the stock bottom end on 4.6

the quick answer is yes if you put the bigger pulley on it will keep boost down a bit. But, you'd want to monitor it.

swapping the pulley out will lower the boost and hp. Should you have it tuned, well for optimum driveability yes it would be recomended anytime you make changes like that
