I wouldnt push past 11psi

Remember, power doesnt kill motors, detonation and high revs do. Dont believe the hype.

of course, i could just skip the heads and up the boost. how much punishment (psi) can i safely run on a hyper piston 5.0? ive heard many many numbers.

This where I differ from others..

In my opinion, there is no set number when your saying 8psi is good but 12 is too much.

When worried about what the motor can take...you wanna look at hp numbers, not boost numbers.

I would say that with a good, solid tune you should be able handle 450rwhp.

450hp might be 8psi or it might be 15...especially with E7 heads - your gonna see more boost than you would with any other heads.

thank you to everyone for the excellent information! best forum on the web!
correct me if im wrong.
with my stock E7's, i will see more boost than with aftermarket heads, because they are much more restrictive. i should be safe (with a reasonable amount of boost) until ~450 rwhp. any idea at all how many pounds of boost that might be? and what pulley size? thank you so much!

Yes...you'll see more boost with E7's because of restriction. 3.33 is a stock pulley - start there.

check with your local machine shops to see if someone has dropped off some heads to be redone and never cam back to pick up and pay, you might find a real good deal

If you supercharge it even w/ the stock heads your power wont be your issue with trying for mid to low 12's it will be your traction and suspension. Get some good tires, LCA's, lose some weight and you should be ok. Don't go over kill from the start. Its always better to do more with less anyway b/c it feels like much more of an accomplishment.

H/C/I suspension work, 10 PSI of boost, weight reduction and runs low 11's or high 10's....big deal, who couldn't do that?

See what I mean.
