ok so i am building a motor for my gt swap. The block is back from the machine shop, stock bore everything is still stock just freshend up. So i just bought the pistons stock trw forged ones with rings. ok so now im getting to the point that i am having trouble deciding on. Do i get a steeda #19 cam and if so what kinda head mods do i have to support it with. Could i get a gt40 head and use the stock valve springs with a 1.6 or 1.7 roller rocker. or do i have to upgrade to something higher? please someone help put me in the right direction. I have a cobra upper and lower intake that are goin in the motor besides that my head and cam situation are hard to decide on. Im really looking for more budget, nothing really expensive please.

As far as the springs go, that depends on what cam you go with. Hmm for your setup being budget minded I recommend crane 2031 with 1.7 RR's. Or the TFS1 cam with 1.6 RR's. Seen good results from either setup.

The 1.7 rockers will increase your lift from .480" to .510". Also the valve action will be just a tad faster. This is good stuff.

Duration is longer than stock but not radically so on the intake side. The GT-40 heads would also help with the added duration and lift of the cam. As for springs, find out what lift the stock springs are good for depending on which rockers you use. The springs that come on the aluminum GT-40 X heads are good to .550" lift, if I remember correctly.

The most power gain is to be had in the head work. A great cylinder head guy can squeeze a lot of power out of them.

I too was considering running a similar setup. Is there anyone on here currently running the Steeda #19? If so are you running the 1.7 RR ? This was the route I was planning to take. What is the consensus, would this be a good choice? How is it for driveability? Any problems with the computer? Its going in a 95GTS.

will stock springs in either head work with this cam (gt40 or e7te head), or should they be changed out.

you should always change out the springs on stock heads. Stock springs might work but you mise well switch them out for better ones

I have a steeda # 19 cam in my car, and i was dissapointed with the performance. but i went with the trick flow heads w/ 1.6 RR's and have no complaints. but after you do all this your gonna have computer problems, so i reccomned buying a chip along with the mods.

If your doing heads too, I would not recommend anything else, but trickflow or afr's. They are simply the best heads out there for our 5.0's and they can be ported decently

i have a slightly used Ecam and brand new gt40X alum heads i will sell you for 1000 shipped. the e cam worked great for me with stock heads and minor mods, like CAi, pulleys, no smog, exhaust system

i was looking at x303 heads 1.6 rr and steeda cam, cobra upper and lower. so this will cause driveability issues? i was getting the cam just because of the driveability issue. im not looking for a ton of power, i just want a na nice cam sounding daily driver. thanks

I have the Steeda #19 and I'm very happy with it, its pretty much perfect for what I wanted. No idle problems either which is awesome, the car runs pretty good as is. Obviously you'll need a tune for optimal performance though. Because it's low in the lift department i'd recommend using 1.7 rockers with it.

custom cam ftw. I siwtched from an off the shelf cam to a custom grind and picked up 18 rwhp. Still have yet to get a tune. No idle issues.

if i got the tfs heads, can i use the stock length pushrods for the steeda #19 cam or do i have to get longer ones. Also how hard is it to put the stud mounted rockers under a valve cover that clears the intake.
