i have an e cam in my 94 mustang gt. i am planning to put my gt40p heads, trick flow spring kit, and edelbrock performer 5.0 intake manifold on. i was thinking of putting some 1.7 rockers on because i think it would sound good and i want the stamped junk off. what would the specs be on the cam with the 1.7s and where would the powerband be? i know the lift would be .528 with the 1.7s.
if i get these rocker arms will i need guide plates also? anyone used them? http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/PFM-66878/1-7-Ratio-Pedestal-Mount-Roller-Rocker-Arms-For-Small-Block-Ford
e cam specs- 282/282, 220/220 @.050, .498 lift

i believe you only need guide plates if they are stud mounted. i was told to stay away from proform when i was shoping for rockers. get comp cams or scorpions

+1 ford full rollers, sometimes you can find a set for a good price. just be sure to check the pushrod seat on the rockers if you buy used, and make sure everything spins freely.

.528 is correct lift for an ecam on 1.7's. my friend ran this setup on a 306 and it sounded awesome.

yes crane are def a lot better than proform! those are the ones you would want for a gt40p head since they are pedestal mount, and you do not need guide plates with pedestal mount. also make sure you check piston to valve clearance with a higher lift. I was fine with a .512 lift on my stock pistons, but you still want to make sure they don't hit!

1.7's will not 'sound' better unless you are talking about how it will sound when you tell folks you've got them on your engine. You will NOT be able to tell a difference by ear, if you can, it's all in your head. that small amount of lift is all that's changed and it also opens the valve faster, and closes it at a faster rate, which means your springs get worked hard as well. I run 1.7's because with a stock cam I need every ounce of lift I can get to empty the cylinders and fill them.
So will they work, yes, go with ford racing 17 cobra rockers, tons of them used on corral and ebay. Do you need them? no, will they make more power? maybe 1 to 2 hp so yes.
