I know there's probably TONS of threads with this question, but I wanted to hear from all ya'll. I got a cobra intake for v-day so I planned on porting it and getting a set of GT40 heads and porting and polishing them. Now with those two being ported, I was wondering if the F303 cam was too big or should I stick with the E303?

trickflow stage 1 about the same price , but much better results
Would it take advantage of the bigger ports? Or would I not even notice a difference?

Crane 2031 if you can still find it. Second choice would bbe the trick flow stage 1.

Those 2 cams work really well with the GT40 head.

I dont know much about the Crane cams but the TF Stage 1 is a good can... Also the E303 cam is very good... I had an E303 cam in my 94 vert and I loved it... BTW you have my old Cobra in your signature...

Just keep in mind the Crane 2031 specs are based on 1.7 ratio rockers not the standard 1.6 ratio...

I had one in my 95 GT and was always happy with it

Did you put 1.7 rockers on it, or keep the 1.6?

94/95 Cobra's come with a Crane Energizer 1.7 roller rocker
Im not working with a cobra bro, Im working with my GT. So if I get GT40 heads off an explorer would I need to swap the rockers for 1.7 if I go with that cam or any of the cams mentioned above?

Wouldn't the TFS1 or E303 be really close to the max lift for GT40 valve springs? I have a TFS1 that is still in the box and I was looking at buying my buddy's GT40P Explorer 5.0. I was always told that the GT40s need to have a spring upgrade to run anything bigger than the stock cam?

Yeah regardless of which cam you go with you should make sure you get matching valve springs. I'd recommend hardened pushrods as well...

how many miles on the car? Maybe new lifters although not necessary if yous are in good condition. When i did my head/cam swap i ended up replacing so much extra stuff; water pump, harmonic balancer, timing chain, among other things. It's just so easy to do because everything is off already you know? I run a Steeda #19 cam, not sure how it would work with GT40 heads though but it's supposed to be ECU friendly. As far as valve springs go, i have no idea i just used the ones that came on my new heads.

Measure for pushrod length if you're using an aftermarket cam. A pushrod that fits one engine may not necessarily work in another. If you are using a stock length pushrod, then I can assure you that the pushrod length is wrong.

Trick Flow Pushrod Length Checker, Adjustment Range 6.125 in. to 7.500 in., Ball Ends. $11.95

Best spring upgrade for the GT40 head, hands down.

Valve Springs, chromoly Retainers, Single Springs, Steel Retainers, Steel Locks, Single Groove $133.95

Dude there is a tfs1 cam used on www.kcsr.orghttp:// for 130. then you dont have to worry about shipping. I would have picked it up myself but just bought a e cam for 100 acouple weeks eariler. Offer him 100 for it. You dont need RR if your working on a budget but they are nice to have. I picked up a set of cobra 1.7s for 100 bucks also.
