Hey guys, Im putting my stock heads back on, and they are pretty rusted. (michigan winters) I was wondering what kind of chemicals have you guys used that can remove rust. I tried purple power and water in a container. It removed some stuff, but im looking for a bit more. Thanks

lacquer thinner and scotch bright typically works pretty good, but I don't know if you would want to use that combo on a set of heads...

i have used evaporust (www.evaporust.comhttp://) on some smaller parts and old sockets and it worked well...kind of left a sticky residue to it that had to be cleaned off but it got rid of the rust. i bought a gallon of it at harbor freight but i think they sell it other places. only problem with doing heads is you would have to completely cover the part so you might need several gallons depending on the container you put it in.

that really work?

Read the can it is one of the reasons it was made. I use it on my rc truck on the screws and other parts when I notice they are rusting after running it in the rain. It is a non-caustic chemical so it will not hurt anything to try it but I am willing to bet it will work. Just put a light coat on and let it sit for a few minutes and the wipe it off and re-apply if necessary and I am betting you will be suprised.

Ya I have put a couple coats of WD40 on them, but it doesnt really have the cutting action Im looking for. Id rather not dissasemble them and dip if I can help it, trying to save time. And yes they are 302 heads.
