So it is time for a new clutch, so i order a ram clutch rated up to 450hp. This is for my basically stock 1996 mustang gt. I get a call from the shop saying i have a spec light weight flywheel already in the car and a spec stage 2 clutch. They suggest that i get a spec stage 2 clutch to replace the one they are taking out. If i can return this clutch it will cost an extra $120. I feel i would rather spend that money on something to up the hp a little but my dad feels i am downgrading by not keeping it a stage 2. What do you guys feel? The motor is stock as far as i know. They reflashed the computer which might have added a little hp but i feel the ram clutch i have will be just fine, and i can spend that extra money on something like underdrive pullys or an intake or something along those lines. So what do you guys think?

Btw this is the clutch i ordered. http://www.americanmuscle.com/ram-hdx-t5-t45-clutch.html

What are your near future plans for the car? For a stock car a spec stage 2 is way overkill. Either way though the flywheel shouldn't necessarily need to determine the clutch you run, at least i wouldn't think.

well its my first car, so future plans are drive it, try not to break it, drag and auto x a few times for fun in the sumer, do a few ups like underdrive pullys, intake, other basic bolt ons.

i would have said save the money and keep the RAM. i had a king cobra RAM clutch in my cobra and it performed fine for a year and a half.

now im running a spec stage 3 clutch but thats only because i have a built motor now and a vortech going on in a few weeks.
