Copper or Aluminum gasket?

Hi all,
I'm replacing the stock power steering lines on my car. I have the new lines fabricated (they look and should work fantastic). I purchased AN-6 fittings for the pump and rack, but I was advised to not use the OEM Teflon sealing rings, but to use copper crush washers instead. The sealing surface on the rack is somewhat rough and a little uneven. I purchased some LocTite 515 flange sealant to help insure no leaks. LocTite makes three different flange sealants, so I called their tech line, and they recommended the 515 for this application. One of the fittings came with an aluminum crush washer. Copper was recommended, but aluminum is softer. I'm leaning towards the copper, but I am open to suggestions either way.
What say you?
Thanks, CobraRGuy20260331_112350.jpg

I'm pretty sure the copper is the softer one, or at least it's more ductile than aluminum. It really doesn't matter, both will crush but the aluminum might require more torque to achieve the same amount of crush. Should aim for somewhere around 30 - 40 ft lbs, same as crush washers in a hydraulic brake system.

Thanks Jeff,
Yes I did end up using the copper. Everything came out really nice. I haven't filled and bled the system yet, but I have a high degree of confidence that there will be no leaks.

I'm very pleased with how it looks. Later today I'll fill, bleed the system and check for leaks. That is, of course, much more important than looks.
I have some leftover hose ends, two 90 degree and one straight. this is all made by Allstar Performance. They claim these are designed to only work with their hose, but I have seen them used with other brands of 3/8" P/S hose.
These are made of steel, which is what's recommended.
I'm offering these leftovers for free, just pay the shipping. First to claim 'em gets 'em.
