I lifted my hood up yesterday, and i heard a crack. I look where the windshield wipers are and the cowl vent cover cracked. I called Ford and they say its $200 for the part, which is kinda BS because its just a piece of plastic, so I went to the local junkyard and found 1 for $40, but its real faded, i want and I want to paint it black. Can someone show me the proper steps to paint it? Sorry no pics Ill post them up after school/work

They sell really good plastic and vinyl paints at car parts stores. I'd go with a flat or satin black. You just want to sand it down with a scotch brite pad and wipe it down with alcohol to make sure no grease etc is on it. Give it a few light coats and it will be good. Hit it with a clear coat if you'd like.

yeah, you don't need anything too rough. Just a fine grit to scratch up the surface to aid adhesion of the paint.
