I know i'm going to get "singleport ftl" coments from most of you so please spare them if you can please. Anyway I know I dont have alot done to my 96 but with my mods in my sig. I thought it would be better. I mean 0-60 is ok I geuss but once I get to 70-80ish the car straight falls on it's ass. Honestly barely feels like it's moving lol. Maybe a misfire or something? I just want to know is this honestly cause of it being a singleport? Are all v6 stangs this way? maybe somethings wrong with my stang or I need more mods? just wondering guys.

Sigh, you have a singleport, but all is not lost. A 56mm throttle body, matched with a ported upper and lower intake will solve your slowness problems towards the split port motors. A single port can be made to be fast. If you are going to add a power adder... then you don't have to worry about being single port... H/C/I plus the power adder will demolish the 40 hp difference.

Port those intakes if you want noticeable POWER. Split port is NOT the ANSWER, or God, to all your 3.8 problems. Split-ports for the LOOSE. Bwahahahah... yes even though the split port has a 40 horsepower advantage... you can knock of 20 horsepower with the port and polish... more so with added bolt-ons. Plus your at a better advantage over the stock split port mustangs with your 4.10 gears.

Anyways, if you decide to stick with the V6, good luck, and port those intakes... it cost less than the split port swap.

buy a v8 5 speed...problem solved. :)
j/k, if you've got some money, buy a used/inexpensive power adder and obviously the supporting mods.

uhh...he will still be slow if he buys a 5.0 or a 4.6

14/15 second 1/4 miles arent fast anymore

honestly, you need more power to solve your concern.
You gotta face fact, and look at it realistically. your car is 13 years old, 3.8 L and relatively inefficient, especially with the automatic and stock stall convertor.

you want more acceleration, top end? this means you need more power.
this means a bigger engine, or blower.

anything else is just minor gains if any, and is a waste of money IMO.
don't waste your time with all the "bolt on" bull shit. blow it or replace it.

Put it this way, I had a 98 V6 Mustang.........you see what my eventual decision was, I think you may make a similar one.

Oh, who said anything about him getting a slow 94-98 V8 (GT here) when he can buy a good 94-98 Cobra, or even better 03/04 Terminator..........drools......... Or he can just get a new Mustang GT with a nice 315 bhp and call it day, hell, at least he'll have a warranty.

As stated, you need more power, you're not making that much. If you really want to stick with the V6 and you want it to be "fast" then be prepaired to dump a nice load of cash into your car. The split port swap, IMO, is a decent way to go, but don't do just the base swap, buy a ported/polished split port setup from supersix, put in a decent cam, and then call it day. If you want to do a power (which you will because you're still probably not going to be as fast as you want) then get one and call it a day. Point is, you'll be much better off just trading in or selling your car and getting something better. Rather that be a GT/Cobra/New/Old or another brand all together, it's up to you.

i just saw this thread, haven't been on here in a while... Some of the guys post on here are pretty much accurate about going to supersix motorsports and doing the ported/polish deal. I have basic bolt-ons on my car and i can tell a pretty big difference. But i would never think about racing a 4.6 or even an old 5.0. The only reason i have done all these things to my 6 is the simple fact that it was my first car and i want to keep it in the family. Maybe later i would like to procharge it and convert it to a 5 speed. I have been planning on buying a 03 cobra after i graduate from college
