I have 3 friends that got an awesome group purchase price from them. All 3 of the rattle and knock on startup. Most times it's normal for the difference in materials of metal. I doubt it's going to cause troubles in the future for them but my MMR block is a lot quieter even on startup.

you can get a lot better of an engine sometimes for less money if you look around. MMR just had a spectacualr sale on their 600's and it was 1875 for the short block!!!!!

^^^^ MP is probably my favorite company to suggest when people ask for a good modular engine builder. The Tymesky family does it right the first time and does quality builds time after time. If i ever go with a Big Bore thats where i'm sending my block.

I was talking to mmr and they sound like who i am going to go with. Very friendly and they know there stuff. This is just going to be the first engine i don't build because i don't have the time, so i am just praying that they do a good job. Also their prices are very good.

Modular Performance does some quality builds and builds it right the first time.
They are nice people to deal with and have excellent customer service. They
are first on my list if I ever need a replacement engine.

P.S. I like you too Duff.

i dont have any input on mmr or modular performance (actually ordered an mmr 4.75 liter long block for a customer 2 weeks ago), but i will say after seeing a dss super pro bullet 347 long block that was a 9.5:1 NA motor kick 2 "forged" connecting rods through the block when it was 1000 miles old, and their absolute lack of caring. i think id keep my distance from them. and upon further inspection after it came apart i found rings that weren't staggered in 3 cylinders, the connecting rods look like cheap chinese metal, and really nothing special, no coated bearings or anything, all in all, i wasnt impressed for the $
