Is anyone out there running a Ford E-303 cam with 1.7 rockers and stock heads and bottom end? Thinking about doing that combo, and wanna see if I'll be able to get away with it. Spoke to Ford Racing, and a tech there said that I'd be able to squeak it by, but I also wanted to see if someone is running something similar to that.

Stock heads = Stock Cam

Don't run an E cam with E7 heads unless you're looking to slow down. An E cam/1.7's with stock springs is going to have valve float like no other. Don't listen to the techs at Ford Racing..."You'd be able to squeak" it by" :tard:???

I can't believe a tech told you that lol.

Well, springs will definitely be changed, I forgot to mention that.

Care to elaborate why I would lose power with e-cam on stock heads? I just don't know if I can believe that increasing airflow and adding fuel can lose power. People were saying that I'd lose power installing an intake manifold on a stock long block, but I came back with a 28whp jump and no powerloss at any range.

You're telling me that all you did was change a manifold and you gained 28HP? Bullsh1t, you have proof of that? After 15 years of mustangs I have yet to see ANYONE gain 28HP with a N/A stock long block and manifold switch.

The reason you would lose power is "airflow" is not where the power is always at. Power is based on velocity, how fast you can get it in and out. E7 heads suck and can't flow at all unless you spend a lot of money on some good, quality port work. The stock cam is not a bad cam at all and is not necessary to change. How do you think NMRA factory Stock cars can run 10's with a stock cam?

Well, actually the mod list was 75mm throttle body, Edelbrock Performer Intake manifold and 1.7 rockers, but the I have the dyno results on here, I've made a thread about it. I did not lose a single hp at any point on the range. Mind you that was on a 190k mile long block

As far as the cam goes, I was really looking for more range, because car is running out of power hard past 4500, and that's kind of annoying on the road course. I've also heard good things about the cam that you're using, even though it's kinda expensive. What about Crane 2031

What would you like to know??

It's not a small cam but it's not huge either.

It's a cam that was originally designed for the 93-95 Cobra/GT40 head. It is designed to be used with 1.7's and it really starts to pull around 3000 RPM. It is a good blower/nitrous cam but not a very good cam for a turbo kit. I love it, in fact this is the second mustang I have used this cam in. It only pulls from 2000 to about 6000. The cam card says 5500 but it still pulls to about 5800 in my car.

Here is the cam card.

friend of mine ran ecam e7 heads 1.7 cobra rollers and a blower.

Boost is his friend when making solid power.

it ran pretty good, no real problems. 6psi on a powerdyne with that combo on a 306. managed to take down a 375whp srt8 but thats not saying much.

Im running that. Dont listen to ford racing. They told me that i will have WAY too much lift, and blow my engine. Ive ran this setup on my racecar that is going from 4-6.2 K rpms WOT for weekends straight. I also am currently running this with my street car. No problems. But yes, you will need at least the trick flow valve spring kit, and it wont do much with E7s.

My last 95 had e7 heads and e cam before the build with 1.7 roller rockers I didnt feel much of a difference but to answer your question it will work. The rockers will fit under stock valve covers aswell. I would recomend running better springs than stock they wont hold up long if you dont
